Porkeri is one of the villages in the Faroe Islands, which has lost most lives at sea. In a single accident several houses lost all of their men or almost all of them: husbands, fathers, uncles, brothers and sons. There are many stories about ships and boats, which never came back. Elderly people still remember these accidents as if they happened yesterday. |
